Mandates, Art, and More!

Edited, 8/6/2020

What's new?

A Statewide mask mandate will be strictly enforced for the next 3-6 weeks in an effort to curb the continued spread of Covid-19. The gallery will require artists and patrons to wear a mask no matter how long you plan to visit.

Let's do our very best to follow these guidelines so that we can begin to find normalcy sooner than later.

Convos over Art is a new show hosted by visual artist Felicia Sherrod and features visual, performance and applied sciences artists who meet to discuss personal, professional complexities as well as worldly topics such as culture, relationships, travel, mental health and more!

"I hope that this show provides another great platform for artists looking to broaden their audience but I also want non-artists to watch and find themselves inspired or entertained." The current episode features rising performance artist, Beri, a self proclaimed Fusion musician who mixes Afro-beats, Hip-hop and R&B together to get his sound. The latest from Emilie H.

Lately, I've been working with these balsam wood cuts and painting empowering and mystical women.  One of my favorite subjects to explore is femininity and portraying them in a world of divine magic. Having a wood base with actually bark, melds the idea of that magic is considered something outside the human but is actually very rooted in nature.

"I was inspired to use simple symbolism such as animals, the elements, celestial bodies to emphasis them being otherworldly.  I also tried to bring traditional Christianity elements in this work like halos and draping clothing much like one would see Mother Mary depicted, because I try to show connections between two seemly different idea- in this case, magic and holiness.  I love this subject because Goddesses are anything you want them to be. "
